In a world that constantly tells you to act nonchalant and create a flawless appearance, softness is easily misunderstood. We are taught to equate strength with being the “Cool Girl” who doesn’t care, the machine that never fails, or the fortress that nothing can touch. But the reality is: your softest version is not your weakest, rather the most resilient.

It takes zero creativity to build a wall. When we put on the trends, aesthetics, and digital detachedness, we aren’t becoming stronger. An exterior is brittle and requires reliance on everything going perfectly on track. The second real life gets messy, that brittle exterior cracks because it has no flexibility.

Softness requires emotional flexibility and the willingness to feel things deeply, be vulnerable, and to admit when you are struggling instead of putting on a performance.

We forget to acknowledge the courage in remaining open when the world gives you every reason to shut down. It takes strength to care openly in a culture that believes detachment is cool when done and an equal amount of courage to be kind and empathetic. Most of all, it takes real power to accept your own flaws and complexities instead of constantly trying to bulldoze and rebrand who you are.

When you allow yourself to be soft, you allow yourself to be authentic. You choose the honest work of growing at your own pace and giving yourself time to progress. Never let a cynical world convince you that your capacity to feel is a flaw.
